Making a big difference to a small fleet…

A Warmer Home is a small business maintaining a good reputation for providing high quality, reliable gas servicing, repairs and installations throughout South Wales.

Challenge

Like every service business, A Warmer Home relies on delivering consistently high levels of customer satisfaction whilst keeping control of costs in order to provide the best value for money. Even with a relatively small fleet of six vehicles it was clear that improvements in its management could be made. Keeping track of vehicles and allocation of jobs was time consuming relying on regular calls in and out of the office. Emergency callouts required calls to every engineer to determine the most appropriate response. Scheduling involved a degree of guesswork and paper based management information records were difficult to maintain.

Solution

Introduced to A Warmer Home by Corgi, iTracking were familiar with the challenges and immediately provided a clear route forward: The first step was to enable vehicle tracking. iTracking phased in TomTom Link 300 units in order to help spread the cost - the difference to the business was immediate. Each vehicle’s location was visible online through TomTom WEBFLEET enabling accurate arrival estimates for customers, improved responsiveness and better planning. Now with Connected Navigation, each engineer uses a TomTom GO, making it easier to get to jobs in the first place; they’re also using the built-in hands-free communication facility. Further savings will be possible as A Warmer Home starts using the built-in SMS messaging too.

Result

With TomTom Link 300 units tracked online through TomTom WEBFLEET, iTracking enabled A Warmer Home to make immediate savings. Each month, enough fuel was saved through reduced private usage to pay for another vehicle’s Link 300. Now, 18 months on, fuel bills have on average more than halved. In addition, the comprehensive reporting from TomTom WEBFLEET has made compliance with VAT regulations and business planning straightforward. In the coming months the business will start to dispatch jobs directly to engineers via the Connected Navigation system. Making full use of Connected Navigation will make further savings in fuel and admin possible.
